INCOGNITO KICKS OFF 2007 FASTNET CAMPAIGN WITH 2nd IN 2007 RORC DE GUINGAND BOWL RACE
Incognito started her 2007 Fastnet Campaign with a 2nd in class in the 2007 RORC De Guingand Bowl Race. The overall result was 7th from 59 starters.
It was an excellent result from a physically tough nineteen and a half hour race covering 144 miles. A long beat into the English channel in a Force 6 gusting 7 gave the crew a challenging start. The short high chop in the Channel made for a wet and tiring ride on the rail.
At the windward mark the crew took a well earned rest at the start of the run back with dinner served up with the No 3 poled out. Dinner over and the kite went up for them to push on again. By the end of the run Incognito was well placed in the fleet with the wind gradually decreasing overnight.
As the wind lightened further in the early hours the racing was still very close and Incognito finished at 0416 in the morning just 11 minutes (corrected) behind first placed 40.7 Philosophie IV and 20 second ahead of 40.7 Playing Around. Total elapsed time for the race was 19 hours, 36 minutes.
A great result for Tony, Mark W, Emma, Dave Ra, Dave Re, Phil, Sian, Nick, Dan and Paul.
